Tyson's first zoo trip

Some friends invited us to go with them to the zoo a couple of weeks ago. It was a lot of fun. I love the zoo but sadly Tyson wasn't really into it. He watched the other kids much more than he watched the animals. I was disappointed I didn't get to see the bird eating spider. I'm pretty sure this is the animal I didn't get to see.

Free things

I've been looking for good deals or free things lately. I found quite a few. Last weekend Tyson got a free shirt from old navy for wearing a costume into the store. Okay, so he didn't really have a costume on but when I saw the deal I decided he was dressed up as a rugby player. They went for it and let me pick out a shirt for Tyson. We try to use coupons or only buy non food items on clearance. I've learned if you wait long enough you can get some great deals. One of the best deals lately was that we got a free ipod for opening a checking acount. I opened the account a long time ago and wasn't sure if we'd really get the ipod but it came and it's one of their brand new ones. My sister gave me an old ipod of hers for my birthday. Now when she reads this she'll probably ask for hers back. I'll understand if she does. But for now Thayne has his ipod and I have mine. Cost: $0!!! We also happened across the Grand Opening of an outdoor store last weekend. Result: free lunch and free access to their climbing wall. Thayne thought he was in his element. Look at him go!
I've learned that I have to be careful. If it's anything more than a dollar off I have to make sure I ask lots of question and/or read the fine print. If you know what the requirements are, there are some great deals out there. If you're not careful, it's easy to get roped into something that you're not interested in. So BE CAREFULthis Halloween.

Halloween PARTAY!!!!

We've been living up Halloween this year. I made our costumes and we've been sportin them at quite a few functions. Last weekend we made an appearance at an adult costume party. Adult as in no kids allowed. Then there was the ward party Wednesday night and Thursday morning Tyson and I went to the mall for their event and tonight we are headed to another awesome Halloween party. Halloween is pretty cool!!

Puppy dog

I know, I know, I know, three blogs in one night. I want to keep going but I've got to get some sleep. I stole this picture off my sister's blog. Thanks Rat! This is Tyson's preferred way of traveling in his stroller. Look at that face! Kids don't get any cuter that this.

Tyson's bath

I thought these pictures were pretty darn cute. Love that smile!!

Our trip to Utah

Tyson and I flew out to Utah last week. We had so much fun and there’s so much to talk about so hold on this may be long. My sweet cousin and aunt provided me with a buddy pass so I had the opportunity to fly standby. We made it fine to Philly but didn’t get on the plane to Phoenix. We tried to make it to Las Vegas but didn’t get on that flight as well. So I flew to Chicago and then to Phoenix and then to SLC. Whew! We made it. Tyson was perfect. He even stayed up till 10:30 New York time in order to entertain family when we got there. It was fun to see my Aunt Joy and my cousin Emily and her cute little girl that night. The next morning we went to a pumpkin patch and then headed to Bountiful to meet my parents. My dad didn’t know I was coming so it was fun to surprise him. My sister and her husband were with us most of the weekend. We played a lot of games and had a lot of fun. My birthday was on Saturday so we went mini golfing and even raced around the slick track and then went to Leatherby’s. Yum-yum!!! I spent Monday night at My brother’s house and then flew home on Tuesday. We had no trouble getting home and even had two seats the whole way. I got a little sick on one of the flights and was happy I hadn’t had any lunch because it probably would have come up. The last leg of the flight I flew on a plane with 13 rows. We walked out to the plane and up the stairs. It reminded me of the movies. It was really cute. However, Tyson made the trip home a long ride for the whole plane. He decided he was done about 45 minutes before we landed and he screamed for the rest of the trip. Poor thing. I felt so bad (for him and the rest of the plane). We saw our first snow fall as we stepped off the plane. Here comes winter. I was so happy to see Thayne when we got home (and I think he was happy to see me too). Our friends were so nice to him while I was gone. They invited him over, fed him, and took care of him. Thanks guys! Thanks Emily and Aunt Joy!! Thanks Mom, Dad, Rachel, Sam, Daniel, and Whitney!!

Too much fun!!

Is it possible to have too much fun while mowing the lawn? Due to Thayne's rigorous schedule I am the family lawn mower until Thayne's schedule lightens up which probably won't happen for a year or so. Last week while mowing the lawn I decided to try out my creative talents and so I mowed Thayne's name into the lawn. I know I'm weird. The sun makes it difficult to see his name but it's there if you look really hard. At the end of the video I point the camera on our neighbor and Thayne and the neighbor starts to run away. She said I couldn't tape her because she didn't do her hair. She's in her eighties and I've never seen her hair done. In fact I've never even seen her hair.

Hair, Bills, and Glamour shots

We had a really fun Young Women activity this past Wednesday night. Rachel Shaw, a fabulous beautician in our ward, taught the girls about hair and make-up (I learned a lot! Not surprising, I know). She showed them some fun hair do's and gave each of them (that wanted it) a makeover. The leaders got to do a "what not to do" fashion show. It was a lot of fun. I really enjoy my calling and the opportunity it has given me to get to know some of the amazing girls and leaders in the ward. The bottom picture is us showing off our bodacious styles. The top picture is Tyson with big lips on his cheek. Rachel did one of the young women's lips and as soon as she was done, she marched over to Tyson and said, "Ooooooh, I really want to kiss him now!"

My little boy is now 6 months old! We'll find out how much he weighs on Thursday at his Dr. appointment. He can sit, scoot backwards, (and sometimes foward), he gets up on his hands and knees but hasn't figured out crawling yet. He loves to giggle, get thrown in the air, have raspberries blown on his tummy, and his neck or thunder thighs tickled. He loves attention and people. He's got beautiful big blue eyes, fair skin, and reddish hair. I'm soooo happy he's finally getting hair. Check out his mohawk in the previous picture. Everywhere we go people comment on how happy and good natured he is. We just love our little Tyson and think he's perfect!

About a month ago Thayne and I went to a Bills game with a bunch of other dental students. It was lots of fun. I didn't take my camera so I had to steal this picture off of somebody's blog. Normally I wouldn't fret over not having my camera but the Buffalo Bills team is such a part of the Buffalo experience that I wanted to make sure I recorded this.
P.S. Last night Thayne and I met a Bills player. He was a super nice guy with a really cute family. I know it's not a big deal but since this is my journal . . .
